DUBLIN, Ohio, May 5, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- To celebrate nurses nationwide, Cardinal Health is launching its newly developed nurse appreciation program, RNspire. The launch coincides with National Nurses Week, May 6-12.
The RNspire program is dedicated to honoring, inspiring and recognizing nurses for their valuable contributions to patients' lives. The largely digital campaign will leverage social media to create a platform for nurses to share stories of inspiration in their own voices and to engage the people they've touched.
"We know that nurses touch the lives of those witnessing their care – be they patients or colleagues or family – and we appreciate how they inspire and lead those around them. Our hope in initiating a grassroots campaign like the RNspire program is that all those affected by nurses will seize the opportunity to recognize them. We know they deserve it," said Don Casey, CEO of the Medical segment of Cardinal Health.
A new RNspire Facebook page, www.Facebook.com/RNspire, will serve as the primary hub of the campaign. It will be a destination for the nursing community to share stories and inspire each other, as well as a place for all to recognize nurses.
Through June 6, the RNspire program will promote a nurse inspiration story competition. Nurses are encouraged to upload a picture to the Facebook page with a short story of what inspires them as a nurse. Fans will be able to vote for their favorite story by 'liking' and 'sharing' it. The Cardinal Health Foundation will make a $5,000 donation to the Wounded Warrior Project in honor of the nurse with the post earning the most "likes" and "shares." Official rules for the competition are available at https://www.facebook.com/RNspire/app_128953167177144
The inspiration story competition is the first RNspire Facebook page campaign driving periodic charitable donations on behalf of nurses. In addition, the program will monitor, on an ongoing basis, Twitter conversations about nurses going above and beyond in their work. Selected nurses will be surprised with the tweets from their grateful patients. Twitter users – both nurses and patients, colleagues or family – are also encouraged to use the hashtag #RNspire.
