Cardinal Health Receives National Premier Healthcare Alliance Award for Operational Excellence
06/13/2013

DUBLIN, Ohio, June 13, 2013 — The Premier healthcare alliance today announced that Cardinal Health is a winner of its first Legacy Award.

The Legacy Award recognizes Premier contracted suppliers that are actively engaged with the alliance, are committed to lowering costs through pricing and supply chain efficiencies, have been able to offer value based on individualized needs and situations, and have demonstrated  corporate responsibility at community levels through provisions such as assistance during disasters, scholarship support, volunteer activities, and grants.

“Cardinal Health has been supporting Premier alliance members for years offering valuable products and services that help to lower supply chain costs and improve operating efficiencies,” said Durral R. Gilbert, president of supply chain services, Premier. “They’ve also supported alliance members during periods of increased need at a local level. We’re honored to recognize them as one of the first Legacy Award recipients.”

Cardinal Health is one of 18 suppliers to receive the Legacy Award this year. Premier, a provider-owned performance improvement alliance of 2,800 hospitals and nearly 100,000 other care sites, contracts with more than 1,000 suppliers.

“We are indeed honored to be recognized by Premier,” said Cardinal Health Chief Customer Officer Mark Rosenbaum. “The world of health care is moving at an incredible pace, and customers are under tremendous pressure to keep up with the changes while reducing costs.  This award reinforces Cardinal Health’s commitment to being essential to care by bringing our scale and expertise to serve hospitals and other customers across the care continuum with products and services that improve their cost-effectiveness and ability to serve patients.”
