Cardinal Health Introduces New Multi-Dose Packaging Solution to Help Retail and Long Term Care Pharmacies Make it Easier for Patients to Take Their Medications
10/23/2012

DUBLIN, Ohio, October 23, 2012 –  Cardinal Health today announced that it recently introduced a new multi-dose packaging solution to help its retail and long term care pharmacy customers make it easier for their patients to adhere to their medication regimens.

Cardinal Health is now the exclusive reseller of multi-dose medication packaging kits, blister packs, labels and other supplies from Dispill-USA. The innovative, cold-sealed, patented, multi-dose packaging system is a simple, safe and convenient way for patients to ensure they are taking the right medication, at the right dose, at the right time.

Each Dispill-USA blister pack contains 28 individual blisters, each for a specific intake time – morning, noon, evening or bedtime. One blister contains all the medications a patient needs for a specific time of day – eliminating the need for patients to count out medications from multiple bottles, multiple times per day. Each blister pack is verified by a pharmacist to improve accuracy, and each blister is easy to open, portable and detachable – so patients no longer have to store or carry around bulky medication vials.

“Dispill-USA multi-dose packaging kits are a great tool to empower pharmacists to make it easier than ever for their patients to ensure they’re being more adherent to their medication regimens,” said Jon Giacomin, president, U.S. Pharmaceutical Distribution, Cardinal Health. “We also believe that pharmacies can leverage this packaging solution as a competitive differentiator – a great way to retain and attract patients who are looking for convenient, safe ways to improve their medication compliance.”

Dispill-USA offers a software program that interfaces with most pharmacy systems. The top of each individual blister lists the patient’s name, the medication within the package and the time it should be taken; along with other pertinent information, like the pharmacist’s name and contact information.

The Dispill-USA packaging solution is also easy and affordable for pharmacies to implement.  It requires no expensive equipment, no monthly fee and is no more labor intensive than script fulfillment in standard vials. Because Dispill-USA blister packs help drive medication compliance, they can also help pharmacies improve the timeliness of medication refills. Retail pharmacies can order the Dispill-USA multi-dose packaging solution through Cardinal Health when placing their normal orders.
