06/15/2010

DUBLIN, Ohio, June 15, 2010 — Cardinal Health today announced that it is a recipient of the Premier healthcare alliance™ Pinnacle Award for outstanding contract management and the  Polaris Award for customer service.

The Pinnacle Award recognizes Premier supplier partners for their outstanding management of agreements and drive toward a mutual goal of providing clinical and financial value to the alliance’s hospital members. Only 38 of Premier’s 800 suppliers received the award.

“The Pinnacle Award honors Premier valued suppliers that strive for collaboration and performance excellence to benefit the alliance, and we are honored to recognize these top performers,” said Premier Purchasing Partners President Mike Alkire.

The Polaris Award recognizes those supply chain partners who have excelled at the qualitative aspects of service to Premier’s members, including high relationship value and customer service. Members selected Cardinal Health as the Polaris Award recipient by ranking the top five Premier Pinnacle Award winners.

“We’re honored to be recognized by Premier’s hospital members for our efforts to drive efficiency through the health care system,” said Therese Grossi, group vice president of Health Systems at Cardinal Health. “We’re focused on the business of health care so that clinicians can focus on providing care to their patients.”

Cardinal Health also received an Honorable Mention in the Diversity Award category for supply chain partners. The annual award recognizes one Premier member hospital and one supply chain partner for efforts to purchase goods and services from Premier contracted diverse suppliers, as well as their efforts to develop procurement strategies aligned with the communities they serve.
