03/15/2006

Three Cardinal Health employees have won the prestigious 2006 Healthcare Distribution Management Association's 'Innovation for Success Award' for Pharmaceutical Sales Above $8 Billion category.

The winners are: Karyl Brown, vice president, Purchasing, Pharmaceutical Supply Chain; Paul Shatto, manager, Pharmaceutical Purchasing, Pharmaceutical Supply Chain; and Rod Clouser, senior analyst, Quality Assurance, Pharmaceutical Supply Chain.

Karyl Brown, Paul Shatto and Rod Clouser developed a comprehensive purchasing model to enhance sales forecasting and order predictability, benefiting both the manufacturer and the distributor by ensuring a smoothly-flowing supply chain.

The HDMA Innovation for Success Award recognizes distribution company leaders who have developed and championed efficient, flexible and innovative business practices that streamline operations and positively affect healthcare product sales. The prestigious HDMA IFS Award recognizes individual(s) committed to continuous supply chain process improvement. Winners demonstrate the value of distribution by developing creative and results-oriented programs and processes that set the standard for excellence in the healthcare industry by benefiting the supply chain, customers and consumers.

Winners serve as a model for leadership and innovation in the healthcare marketplace, demonstrating the power of successful trading partner relationships. Winners are nominated and selected by HDMA Associate manufacturer members.

According to Frank Segrave, Senior Vice President of Purchasing, 'The purchasing model allows manufacturers to more clearly understand seasonal and fluctuating product demand. Also, manufacturers are better able to predict future demand using sophisticated order and inventory data based on the specific purchasing patterns of Cardinal Health's customer base.

'The recipients were given their awards at the HDMA Business Partners Exchange in Gaylord, TX. Please join me in congratulating Karyl, Paul and Rod on a job well done and for showing the industry that Cardinal Health is indeed the leader in innovation.'
