In this video, Ola Snow, CHRO at Cardinal Health, shares her motivation for driving inclusive environments.
Last week, Cardinal Health’s chief human resources officer, Ola Snow, was celebrated as one of the YWCA Columbus’s 2024 class of Women of Achievement, recognized for her work in creating inclusive workplaces and communities.
For nearly 40 years, YWCA Columbus has announced its annual Women of Achievement class to shine a light on the courage and compassion of local leaders – those who empower and inspire others, impact their professions and lift up their communities.
Snow is known for her commitment to ensuring that all people, regardless of their differences, are invited to be their authentic selves, and where all feel welcome, safe, seen and heard. “When I was growing up in the south in the 1960s, my parents were passionate about equality, inclusion and celebrating our differences – at a time when such things weren’t talked about,” she said. “Their careers focused on lifting up underrepresented communities – and they passed that passion onto me.”
We recently interviewed Snow to learn more about what has shaped her career and her life. She credits her children, now both adults, for their influence. Both came out as teenagers, she said. “Once my kids were out, I saw that the world treated them differently, particularly my son – and that was hard. Being a mom of LGBTQIA+ children made me take on advocacy and allyship in a much deeper, more personal way…My kids taught me to be a better advocate for all. And they continue to remind me that there’s always so much more to learn about people.” Please read more of her story here.
In accepting her YWCA recognition, she said, “I believe that my calling is to help people be their most authentic selves and empower them to use their voice. When people show up as who they are truly meant to be our communities thrive. Today, I encourage all of you to lean into the power of your authentic voice to make a positive change in the world.”
