Powering Home Healthcare: Elevating diabetes care at home

Newly acquired Advanced Diabetes Supply Group brings transformative value to Cardinal Health

Cardinal Health at-Home Solutions continues to redefine what it means to manage chronic conditions from home with its recent acquisition of Advanced Diabetes Supply Group (ADSG) and its legacy brands – Advanced Diabetes Supply and US MED.

With the addition of ADSG, at-Home Solutions will serve more people living with diabetes than ever before. ADSG brings expanded patient reach, increased pharmacy channel access and an unmatched approach to customer experience, driving our goal of making it easier for people to get the critical medical supplies they need to live their lives uninterrupted.

Since the acquisition was completed on April 1, 2025, ADSG and Edgepark have come together as one team under the at-Home Solutions umbrella working toward a common-thread mission: Make it simple for patients to access quality care in their home. And their synergies as businesses have been clear from the start.

ADSG has long been solely focused on diabetes care, delivering critical medical supplies like continuous glucose monitors (CGM) and insulin directly to patients in need. Its differentiated approach to pharmacy collaborations, customer experience and proven success within the Medicare population made it an opportunistic buy for Cardinal Health. Edgepark, on the other hand, has strong commercial plan access, coupled with a broader product portfolio focused on categories including diabetes, ostomy, and urology.

“Acquiring ADSG represented a strategic step forward for at-Home Solutions, particularly in the direct-to-patient provider side of our business,” said Rob Schlissberg, president, Cardinal Health at-Home Solutions. “The complementary strengths that ADSG brings to this business will further broaden our impact and position us to lead with even greater scale and efficiency than ever before.”

Together, we are poised to:

  • Expand access and reach: ADSG’s specialized diabetes expertise and our existing national distribution and extensive reach position us to serve more patients efficiently – delivering the right supplies to the right place at the right time.
  • Accelerate growth in a vital industry: Diabetes affects a rapidly growing portion of the U.S. population. Our combined strengths empower us to grow faster, reach new patients, and respond more effectively to changing healthcare needs. We are well-positioned and stronger than ever to continue to be a leading provider of diabetes management solutions, including CGM.
  • Enhance patient experience: ADSG’s high-touch service model offers patients personalized support as they navigate a complex, chronic condition from the comfort of their homes. Combined with at-Home Solutions’ expertise in large-scale distribution, this sets us apart in an increasingly competitive home healthcare industry.
  • Drive operational efficiency: We can increase access to critical medical supplies, relying on at-Home Solutions' distribution expertise and ADSG’s highly acclaimed customer service and support strategy. This combined know-how increases the efficiency and simplicity of delivering what our customers need right to their doorsteps.

With Edgepark and ADSG together as one team, we’re better positioned to build one of the industry’s most powerful platforms for serving patients living with diabetes and chronic conditions that are often associated with diabetes as comorbidities.

At our recent Investor Day, Schlissberg discussed at-Home Solutions’ clear strategy and its focus on the diabetes landscape and related health conditions, including sleep apnea, urological conditions, and more. He also explained how the business’s supply chain of the future enables its ability to grow into new categories and revenue streams. Because the business built its distribution network utilizing key robotics and automation that allow it to solely focus on rapid-pace home healthcare delivery, at-Home Solutions offers a differentiated value in the competitive landscape.

The business remains keenly focused on two main things, Schlissberg said:

  1. Providing medical supplies that customers will need repeatedly to treat chronic conditions
  2. Delivering small supplies that can be shipped, rapidly, to anywhere in the U.S.

“We are intentional about the moves we make as a business – bringing ADSG into our family of businesses was one of these strategic accelerators,” Schlissberg said. “With our strong foundation in distribution coupled with our legacy expertise across numerous conditions and categories, we have made ourselves critical by design to the customers we serve.”

Who is ADSG?

Founded in 2002, ADSG has become a leading national provider of supplies and devices for diabetes and has specialized in supporting people living with the condition since its inception. As a leading nationwide supplier of diabetes supplies, including insulin delivery systems and CGM from prominent manufacturers, it has earned a reputation for excellence through its value-based approach grounded in education and guided support.

Anthony Alvarez, senior vice president and general manager, who leads both the Edgepark and ADSG businesses, explains that ADSG’s addition to the at-Home Solutions portfolio does three key things:

  1. Marks a strategic alignment with our companywide commitment to patient-centered care,
  2. Creates an accelerated pathway to expand access to critical diabetes supplies and therapies, and
  3. Adds scale to our platform for future growth opportunities.

“We do not take for granted the gravity of the care we provide to our customers,” Alvarez said. “When someone living with diabetes needs their supplies, our top priority is making sure those supplies are on their doorstep when they need them to be. We act as an extension of our customers’ dedicated care teams – and ADSG’s highly accredited customer service model and specialized support expertise are renowned among healthcare providers and those they care for. These legacy experiences offered by ADSG were a major factor in our decision to invite them to join Cardinal Health.”

The ADSG advantage

Just like everyone within at-Home Solutions, the ADSG team is committed to putting the patient first. ADSG has an impressive history of hands-on patient care from the minute a patient places an order to beyond when it arrives on their doorstep – a true differentiator among competing DME providers.

A navigator in diabetes supply management

From personalized support from Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialists to a full library of online videos, articles, and product guides, ADSG seeks to equip patients with the knowledge and skills needed to navigate their diabetes journey. ADSG’s specialists communicate proactively from the first order through every reorder, anticipating moments in the diabetes supply delivery timeline when patients may have questions or need updates or information.

“We don’t stop at dropping the box off at a patient’s doorstep,” said Jenna Hecht, VP of new patient acquisition & retention for ADSG and Edgepark, a team solely focused on customer care and support. “Our team of agents will call a patient once they receive a package and sit with them as they open their box – talk them through steps they may want to take as they learn how to use their new supplies and answer any questions they may have.”

ADSG pharmacy services

With collaborations across more than 35 major pharmacy chains and 12,500-plus locations nationwide, ADSG works with pharmacies to fill medical supplies orders covered by Medicare Part B, Commercial Medical and Medicare Advantage plans.

In 2019, ADSG introduced the first-ever retail-integrated solution to help pharmacies navigate evolving Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) guidelines for CGMs. Building on that success, ADSG expanded its pharmacy prescription management services to include Medicare Part B diabetes testing supplies in 2024, further solidifying its role as a trusted advisor in pharmacy care.

Michael Carmody, VP of pharmacy services for ADSG and Edgepark said, “There is so much potential here to further cast a wider net of these services and expand our offerings to even more pharmacies nationwide now that we’re a part of the vast Cardinal Health network.”

The benefits of working with a DME provider like ADSG or Edgepark are significant for pharmacies and their patients. For example, while pharmacists focus on core services like medication therapy management and clinical care, ADSG handles the heavy lifting – obtaining medical documentation, including prior authorizations, and coordinating care with case managers. Carmody recently discussed these benefits more in-depth at Cardinal Health’s annual Retail Business Conference in Denver, Colorado. Listen to his podcast discussion on the topic here.

While Edgepark also offers similar pharmacy services, ADSG’s added scale only fuels our ability to make it easier for people to get their supplies that are covered through insurance.

“We are thrilled about the possibilities ADSG’s pharmacy expertise brings to our business as a whole and believe that this is a critical component of our long-term growth plan,” Alvarez said. “A patient shouldn’t have to worry about how they can receive their supplies through insurance. Once a patient steps in our doorway, we navigate their order to exactly the right place based on their insurance, whether that be the pharmacy or medical benefit. We want this to feel simple – patients don’t need to know that it’s a complex process. We’re dedicated to making that look as easy as possible.”

With ADSG now part of the at-Home Solutions business – and the extended Cardinal Health family – we’re better equipped than ever to lead the way in at-home diabetes care – delivering innovative, efficient and compassionate solutions that truly make a difference in people’s lives.
