DUBLIN, Ohio, Jan. 31, 2023 – Today, Cardinal Health (NYSE: CAH) announced its inclusion in the 2023 Bloomberg Gender-Equality Index (GEI), which measures the importance of gender equality for companies worldwide. The GEI measures gender equality across five pillars ­– leadership and talent pipeline, equal pay and gender pay parity, inclusive culture, anti-sexual harassment policies and external brand ­– helping to bring transparency to gender-related practices at publicly-listed companies, and increasing the breadth of environmental, social and governance (ESG) data available to investors.

The 2023 index evaluated 620 companies across 50 countries that submitted their gender-related data. Ultimately, 484 global companies met the threshold for inclusion. These companies are those most committed to gender equality, showing high levels of female representation at the executive level, and providing the best policies for parity, according to the GEI.

Cardinal Health’s executive leadership team is 57% female, its Board of Directors is 54% female, and the company is making progress toward its goal of increasing the global representation of women at the manager level and above from 40% to 48% by 2030 (from a fiscal 2021 baseline). The company, which released its annual ESG Report on January 25, also conducts a pay equity study every year and reports the results.

About the 2023 Bloomberg GEI: To be considered for inclusion in the GEI, companies submitted a social survey created by Bloomberg in collaboration with subject matter experts globally. The companies included in this year’s index scored at or above a global threshold established by Bloomberg to reflect disclosure and the achievement or adoption of best-in-class statistics and policies.

The survey and the GEI are voluntary and have no associated costs. Bloomberg collected this data for reference purposes only. The index is not ranked. While all public companies are encouraged to disclose supplemental gender data for their company’s investment profile on the Bloomberg Terminal, those that have a market capitalization of USD1 billion are eligible for inclusion in the GEI.
